Welcome to Wolsingham Parish Council Website

We are very lucky to live in this small and beautiful market town, known as “The Gateway to Weardale”, as it lies approximately 15 miles outside Durham at the junction where the B6296 joins the A689 main road that runs up the dale to Alston and Cumbria.

This site contains details of all spaces owned by the Parish Council that are available to book for community groups, events or private parties. Further details of the facilities available can be found on the About Us page or by clicking the Booking Information link above.

The Meeting Information tab holds the agenda and minutes of the latest Parish Council meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of every month, except August when there is no meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend, with the agenda posted on the website, our Facebook page, and in print on the Town Hall noticeboard at least three days before each meeting.

The Public Notices tab contains official notices, together with a link to Durham County Council’s Planning Tracker, which lists all planning applications and planning decisions in respect of the local area.

We have done our best to make this site accessible and useful, both to our community and visitors, whether you are a regular, or if this is your first time. The photographs are all taken in and around the town, although some are more obscure than others. They do all work together to show the beauty in the architecture and the natural environment.

Should you wish to explore our natural surroundings, a number of Walking Guide pamphlets can be found in the Wolsingham Library on the ground floor of the Town Hall. These are free to pick up. The Library also offers a Warm Space during the colder months to anyone who feels the need.

Finally, for those interested in the history of our beautiful town, there is a link to the History of Wolsingham.

If you have any suggestions to improve this site, whether by including new links, articles or more information regarding an aspect of local life, please contact our Parish Clerk; however, please note that she only works 16 hours per week, so your patience while awaiting a response is appreciated.
